Marching band finals are a full day, not a single show. Bands arrive in school buses and coaches from early morning, uniforms pressed, instruments gleaming, and the schedule runs class by class from the smallest schools to the largest right through to evening finals. Families and alumni pack the stands for their own school's slot then stay to watch everyone else, turning it into a marathon of brass, drumlines and colour guard. It is a long day of sitting, cheering and comparing scores, with the biggest roars saved for the final class of the night.
