Houston Texans

Every Houston Texans match this season, home and away — each one links to hotels near the ground it’s played at, so away weekends are as easy to book as home ones.

Home ground: NRG Stadium, Houston

Good to know: NFL game dates and kick-off times can move — flexible scheduling shifts games between Thursday, Sunday and Monday slots, especially from midseason. If your trip is built around the game, choose a free-cancellation rate so your booking can move with it.

History

The Texans are the NFL's newest franchise, awarded to Houston in 1999 and beginning play in 2002 to replace the Oilers, who had left for Tennessee. The name and bull-horn logo lean into a broad Texas identity rather than any inherited history. Houston has never reached a Super Bowl, though the team has built a reputation for producing standout pass rushers, including J.J. Watt, whose dominant seasons in the early 2010s made him one of the most feared defenders in the league. Quarterback C.J. Stroud's arrival in 2023 brought the franchise its most promising young era yet, ending a long playoff drought. NRG Stadium's retractable roof helps shield games from Houston's heat and humidity.

Records & quirks

  • J.J. Watt's 101 career sacks are a franchise record, including 20.5 in both 2012 and 2014.
  • Watt is one of only three players in NFL history with three or more Defensive Player of the Year awards.
  • He also holds Houston's records for forced fumbles (23) and fumble recoveries (15).
