Miami Dolphins

Every Miami Dolphins match this season, home and away — each one links to hotels near the ground it’s played at, so away weekends are as easy to book as home ones.

Home ground: Hard Rock Stadium, Miami Gardens

Good to know: NFL game dates and kick-off times can move — flexible scheduling shifts games between Thursday, Sunday and Monday slots, especially from midseason. If your trip is built around the game, choose a free-cancellation rate so your booking can move with it.

History

Miami joined the AFL as an expansion franchise in 1966, the marine name fitting a coastal city built around the sea. The Dolphins remain the only team in NFL history to complete a perfect season, going 17-0 in 1972 and capping it with victory in Super Bowl VII, a record no team has matched since; Miami won again the following year for back-to-back titles. Coach Don Shula, whose tenure spans both championships and a later Dan Marino-led era of prolific passing without a further Super Bowl win, is the winningest coach in NFL history. Hard Rock Stadium's open-air design and Miami's heat and humidity remain a genuine test for visiting teams late in the season.

Records & quirks

  • Miami beat Washington 14-7 in Super Bowl VII to cap the only perfect season in modern NFL history.
  • Starting QB Bob Griese broke his leg in week 5 of 1972; backup Earl Morrall won the next nine games.
  • Safety Jake Scott was named Super Bowl VII MVP.
