History

Philadelphia joined the NFL in 1933, its name and original eagle logo drawn from the Blue Eagle emblem of the National Recovery Administration, a New Deal agency, reflecting the era it was founded in. The Eagles won NFL championships in the pre-Super Bowl era of the 1940s and '60s, then went decades without a title before winning Super Bowl LII after the 2017 season, upsetting Bill Belichick's Patriots with a trick-play touchdown pass thrown by quarterback Nick Foles. Philadelphia added a second Super Bowl after the 2024 season, again beating Kansas City in the title game.
