The Qatar Grand Prix is a floodlit night race held at the Lusail International Circuit, north of the capital Doha. The track was built in 2004, chiefly for MotoGP, and hosted its first Formula 1 race in 2021, when Qatar stepped in to fill a gap in the calendar; a long-term agreement then brought the grand prix back from 2023 as a permanent fixture.

The 5.4-kilometre lap is fast and flowing, a rhythmic sequence of medium and high-speed corners that place heavy demands on tyres — as the sport discovered in 2023, when tyre-life limits forced a mandatory pit-stop strategy. Racing under lights in the cooler desert evening, the circuit makes a striking spectacle against the Gulf sky, and both Lewis Hamilton, winner of the inaugural 2021 race, and Max Verstappen have tasted victory here.

With the Lusail Metro connecting the track to Doha's waterfront and a wealth of new hotels, museums and the historic Souq Waqif nearby, Qatar has quickly established itself as a popular late-season stop.

Lusail International Circuit is a floodlit Formula 1 and MotoGP venue north of Doha, a fast technical lap through the desert that comes alive under lights as darkness falls over the Gulf. The circuit is 20 kilometres from Doha's glittering waterfront, with the Souq Waqif bazaar, the Museum of Islamic Art and modern hotels all close by.

The Lusail Metro Line runs directly to the circuit. Late autumn here is warm and reliably clear, making the night race spectacular. Book in Doha early; the city's hotels are plentiful but demand grows sharply in the autumn racing season.
