About Guelaguetza 2027

Oaxaca's Lunes del Cerro — the two Mondays after 16 July, falling on 19 and 26 July in 2027 — when delegations from the state's eight regions climb the Cerro del Fortín to dance for the city: the Danza de la Pluma with its towering feathered headdresses, the pineapple dance of Papaloapan, gifts thrown to the crowd from the stage.

The week between the two Mondays is one long festival of parades, mezcal fairs and street food. The morning shows in the open-air auditorium are the heart of it; the free upper section queues from before dawn.
