The Aragon Grand Prix brings MotoGP to MotorLand Aragón for a high-demand race weekend, and rooms near the circuit sell out early. Picking the right base town is mostly a trade-off between how close you are and how much hotel choice you have.

MotorLand Aragón opened in 2009 on the arid, wind-scoured plateau outside the medieval town of Alcañiz in Teruel province, a Hermann Tilke design that quickly won admirers for its bold changes of elevation and rhythm. The 5.1-kilometre lap mixes fast, sweeping corners with hard stops and a long, downhill run into a heavy braking zone, rewarding riders willing to commit late and hang the bike on its side through the circuit's signature sequence of turns.

MotoGP first raced here in 2010, and the Aragón Grand Prix soon became a happy hunting ground for Spain's champions, Marc Márquez in particular, roared on by vast home crowds who fill the natural grass banking. In the disrupted 2020 season the venue even staged two rounds in a fortnight, the Aragón and Teruel Grands Prix.

Remote and slightly wild, ringed by campsites and reached along quiet roads through the Aragonese countryside, it offers overtaking-rich racing in one of Spain's most distinctive settings.

MotorLand Aragón is a purpose-built MotoGP venue outside Alcañiz in the semi-arid plains of eastern Spain, known for long straights, technical corners and overtaking that rewards commitment under braking. The town of Alcañiz, with its hilltop Templar castle and compact medieval centre, is the obvious local base though limited in scale.

Zaragoza, around 90 kilometres west, offers city comforts and far more hotel choice. Book either early; the Aragón round is one of the most attended MotoGP races in Europe, and both cities fill for the race weekend.
