Road racing on closed public roads brings a different crowd to the coast than any track event. Fans line hedgerows, garden walls and farm gates for hours to catch riders flashing past at well over 200kph, with the noise arriving seconds before the bikes do. Practice and qualifying sessions build through the week, so regulars plan their days around which stretch of road gives the best view rather than a single grandstand seat. Local knowledge of the circuit's triangle of villages matters as much as any ticket.

Run since 1929 on the roads of the Causeway Coast, the North West 200 is a cornerstone of international road racing and, alongside the Isle of Man TT and the old Ulster Grand Prix, one of the sport's crown jewels. The Triangle's long, fast straights make it the quickest of the lot.
