Bull riding at this level is over in seconds, but those seconds are the point. Riders draw their bulls rather than choosing them, so the matchups change from night to night and nobody quite knows what they're getting until the gate opens. A Saturday night card means a full building and a long undercard of scoring runs, re-rides and the occasional wreck that sends the crowd quiet before it roars again. Between rounds there's music, pyrotechnics and enough downtime to argue with the person next to you about who should have covered their bull.

Home to both the Bulls and the Blackhawks, the United Center on Chicago's Near West Side is one of the busiest arenas in the United States, also hosting the biggest concerts. The surrounding area is a mix of residential streets and sports bars, with downtown's dining and nightlife a short ride away.
