For one week a desert town of fifteen thousand people hosts fifty thousand camels and a quarter of a million visitors. The trading, racing and moustache competitions peak in the first days; the fair then turns sacred, closing with pilgrims bathing in Pushkar Lake under the Kartik Purnima full moon.
