The Simhastha Kumbh Mela's principal bathing phase runs from the first Shahi Snan on 2 August to the Amrit Snan of 11–12 September 2027, when the akharas — processions of sadhus, some naked and ash-smeared, some on horseback — bathe at Ramkund on the Godavari in Nashik and at Kushavarta in Trimbakeshwar.
