Pros: The place has good spaces. Majo was very responsive when I wrote to her. Cons: If you want to carry your suitcase up more than 70 stairs in a dark alley, (my brother had knee surgery) in a place that seems like a mix of ranches and favela, where at 6.30 am you are woken up by the barking of more than 8 dogs that seem to be fighting non-stop for over an hour. Pros: Beautiful home. The beds were comfortable and clean. Kitchen had lots of cookware and dishes. Host was very responsive and accommodating. Delivered extra water and towels to doorstep, which is not an easy task up stairs. Distance to stores, open markets, dining and bus stop to Centro were a plus. Cons: The amount of stairs uphill (76) to get to the house is not for the faint of heart. Fortunately even my 75, 80, and 84yr old family members that stayed with me in the home are still able to walk up with a few small breaks.
