About this hotel

Dorma Coliseum is a 4-star hotel in Santander, Spain.

In the heart of Santander’s historic centre, just steps from the Town Hall, the Cathedral, and Plaza Porticada, Dorma Coliseum blends history with contemporary design, while paying tribute to classic cinema. The building, inaugurated in 1929 as the María Lisarda Theatre and later converted into the Coliseum cinema, has been remodelled preserving details of its cinematic past, with an elegant façade evoking the magic of old cinemas. Upon entering, the homage to the seventh art is immediately evident: rooms, lounges, and common areas are named after classic films, combining cinematic nostalgia with comfort. Its strategic location allows guests to explore Santander’s main cultural and architectural attractions on foot, offering a unique experience that fuses history and style in every stay.

Nice stay, but a little too corporate for us.

Pros: The hotel was a larger, but the breakfast one than we had stayed in for the rest of our trip and as such is a little more impersonal & considerably more expensive, but then Santander was a bigger place and as a port town , this probably puts the prices up. Cons: England were playing in the World Cup and we got to watch the first half in the bar/cafe, but then they just shut the bar without any notice, so we had to watch the rest of the game on my laptop in the room , without another drink. It closed at approx 11.45 as well which seems an odd time to stop serving
