The great York coffee drought of 2026

We stay in York quite often and fancied a change from the chain hotels we usually use. Hotel Clementine is part of a small local group of businesses, but feels very much like an independent guesthouse with all the advantages and quirks that entails. We booked a standard room, which was absolutely fine for us as a couple (we actually like each other, which helps). The hotel has a funky, tongue-in-cheek, Georgian post-modern decor throughout, which is fun - and a bit (unintentionally?) Goth! The rooms were absolutely spotless and serviced every day - and there was a nice bit of garden around the

Lovely hotel

Pros: Everything about the hotel was lovely 😍 Cons: This is by far one of the nicest hotels I've stayed in a long time. Super friendly staff, the hotel was lovely and clean.

A very friendly, warm and welcoming reception. Nothing was too much for the staff.

Pros: Great hotel, very clean & well presented, fantastic setting. The gardens were a lovely area to relax & the hotel is a great location & very central to all amenities Cons: N/A

A nice hotel, good location & breakfast.

Pros: The reception staff were helpful. They also gave suggestions on where to have dinner. Breakfast was very nice & the location was great. Cons: The room was tiny for 2 adults, 2 suitcases & a dog! The breakfast waitress brought our cooked breakfast straight after giving us our cereal. We asked her to bring it back later - when she did it was cold! Perhaps some training around this might be useful?
