Exceeded expectations
Pros: The modern apartment, the order and cleanliness. In addition to the personalized attention from the host, although I went with a friend to watch the World Cup, the apartment is ideal for a family stay. Cons: Perhaps not being able to watch the World Cup matches on the apartment's TV gave us the opportunity to watch them in many restaurants and bars that abound in the area. You don't miss out on anything.
Marcelo is a very nice and available host! You will for sure enjoy this place!!
Pros: Nice place, big, full kitchen, very clean and nice shower. Cons: When you turn on all the AC in the place, the energy might not hold and blackout.

A good compromise between cost, quality, and location for a self-catering stay in New York.
Pros: The apartment is in a good location if you are looking for a more affordable self-catering stay, being close to Newark Penn Station with its fast commuter trains to central Manhattan and beyond. The neighborhood is safe, with a bit of a Portuguese / Brazilian flavor, even though you do see more police in one day than you would see in a month in the UK (maybe that's why it is safe!). The apartment was adequately equipped, though could have done with better quality utensils (hint: there is an Ikea nearby). But we coped using what was there.
