The most beautiful home with the most amazing staff!

Pros: This was one of the most incredible hotel/villa experiences I’ve ever had. The property is stunning and the facilities are incredible too, it really felt like we were in our own home. The staff and the service was impeccable, our butler Asanga helped us with anything and everything and was such a joy to have in the house with us, he made us feel like we were at our own home and no ask was too much for him! The most beautiful hotel!

Pros: We stayed in one of the suites for the first 2 nights of our honeymoon. The suite was incredible and the best hotel room we’ve ever stayed in. The room was massive with a separate living room and private balcony. The whole property is beautiful and very well maintained. There is also a wonderful pool and roof top jacuzzi for guests. The food is delicious and good options on the menu. Darshana looked after us during our stay at Ishq and he made the stay even better! Ishq is a beautiful, small hotel with just four rooms, making it feel more like staying in a private home than a hotel. Its smaller scale means the facilities are more limited than at a large resort, but that was very much part of its appeal. The staff were exceptional and nothing was too much trouble. I particularly enjoyed the small swimming pool and the on-site massage area, and the location made it easy to explore the neighbourhood on foot or take a tuk-tuk into the city.

Pros: It was luxurious and incredibly quiet away from the noise of central Colombo. The rooms were air conditioned and the pool was a welcome relief after returning from the markets. Cons: We couldn’t fault the property - it delivered on everything we could ever want from a luxury villa.

A hotel best suited to certain (formal) tastes

Pros: The rooms are huge and bedding is decadent. Best shower I’ve ever had in a hotel. The water pressure is incredible and all the bath fixtures are super high end. AC works great and rooms are super dark at night. Cons: The swimming pool is directly next to the lobby (which is actually a formal sitting area as this is a home, not a hotel). This set up is kind of awkward when you’re in the pool and guests are checking in. All public spaces do not have air conditioning (or it’s not turned on) so if you’re not in your room you’re sweating. Decor is very formal and somewhat uninviting. This is
