Beware!! Beautiful Beach

Fourth time to Barbados, first time at Mango Bay had visited for a day when we stayed at their sister hotel Island Inn in 24, we really enjoyed Island Inn but thought we would give Mango Bay a try as it was a higher rating! On arrival we were placed in a condo at the Palm Springs Resort which adjoins the Mango Bay, we said as we were shown the room we were not happy and felt unsafe at the location of this “room” and we would like a room in the main hotel blocks to be told we are at full capacity and there are no other rooms, someone had obviously been given our room as ours had been booked for

Where do I start? We were recommended to stay here. We weren’t disappointed from the moment we arrived until the day we left we were treated as returning guests, this was our first visit. Every member of staff from management down were brilliant. We booked a sea view room, we were in room 211 it doesn’t get better. The only downside was as an older couple the sea shelf made it difficult to leave the ocean. We made up by using the pool. We never once had a problem getting a beach or pool bed. Mostly good

We stayed here for one week. The hotel itself is nice enough. The room was clean however quite dated. Lots of brown decor. The entertainment could be improved such as more interactive guest activities. Some of the staff were quite miserable looking. One person in particular constantly looked annoyed, and there was no positive interaction. I took my son down for breakfast 30 mins before it stopped and she was clearly annoyed about this. I asked for tea, and was given coffee so I politely mentioned this. She said abruptly “you asked for coffee” (I don’t like coffee so why would I ask for it)

The major problem of this hotel is the rudeness of the staff. We were told rude things, ignored, cut off from talking, had eyes rolled at us, etc. Nobody offers to help around this place. Most of the workers should not be in the service industry!! Food selection and taste was absolutely horrible. One night we did not eat anything offered on the menu and waitress had a major attitude problem because we asked if we could see the kids menu or eat something else. The hotel is also very rundown. Genuine review

Lovely hotel, but sadly the food has gone down majorly. Too many poor standard buffets. Also, by bringing in guests from Island Inn and The Sands because of the problems at both of these hotels!!, impacted our stay with not enough food for lunch on many occasions. We were due to return in September but have now transferred our booking to another hotel on the West Coast. Such a shame because this hotel used to be wonderful but by reducing the quality of the food will reduce the returning guests eventually.
