Really cool stay if you’re looking for a traditional Japanese Ryokan/Onsen vibe
Really cool stay if you’re looking for a traditional Japanese Ryokan/Onsen vibe. The building is older and does have a moldy smell (which isn’t suprising considering the moisture from the Onsen’s) The Onsen’s were tattoo friendly as I have a full sleeve and they didn’t care. Don’t have to pay extra for private onsen if you don’t have one in your room. My wife and I slept on the Tatami mats and I will say I’m glad it was only 1 night, cool to experience but definitely woke up stiff and sore. The staff were very attentive and helpful
The staff were very attentive and helpful. The room was beautiful and so was the view. We really enjoyed the forest private bath, and if we’d stayed longer we would have also tried the mountain view bath. We found that the meals offered plenty of food - bordering on too much for us. We would have liked the option to pick what we wanted to eat from the days menu rather than take every dish.

if you want to live in a Japanese-style hotel, look no further
if you want to live in a Japanese-style hotel, look no further. The facilities and staff are outstanding. Tatami floors. Futon beds. Serene property. Hot outdoor soaking tubs. A really nice change of pace from Tokyo.
