Pros: Location, staff, and breakfast were okay. Cons: No air conditioning, no fan (we had almost 40 degrees). Cleaning staff leaves windows open at these temperatures. Bathroom: grout moldy, calcified, shower head worn and heavily calcified. Scratches on the walls. Overall run-down.

Old-fashioned hotel, basic facilities, clean
Pros: Good parking facilities, good breakfast, the room was clean Cons: The 'deluxe room' was very very small, no air conditioning (I know that was known when I booked, it was just a bit surprising for a 4*) and the TV didn't work (neither the TV channels nor Internet/Streaming apps as the TV kept connecting and disconnecting from the Internet; also not all buttons on the remote worked).

As always, a very pleasant stay in Herne, friendly staff, nice room, very quiet location and easily accessible by car.
