A hidden gem

An almost entirely excellent hotel. In many ways it’s a bit like the Pierre in NY: an elegant reception is set well back from the road (good for security), reception staff are pleasant and helpful, rooms though compact are well designed. The rooms are smartly furnished - think the Mark but less gaudy. Even the bathroom sink plugs work and you get a proper bar of soap! The knocks are that although the room is well sound-insulated from the corridor, insulation between rooms is not so good; north facing rooms are cold in winter because of the hotel’s green policy of limiting the aircon temperatur

Unlikely to go again.

Pros: Very good location

Pros: Very good location. Quiet rooms. Large and comfortable beds. Attentive and professional staff. Cons: Cold in the rooms (you can't control the system from the room). The hot water in the showers takes a long time to come out and without pressure.

Gone downhill

Pros: Location Cons: Tired. Poor facilities, room was freezing on arrival - heating wasn’t turned on.
