Hotels in Alcudia

Alcúdia sits on Mallorca's north coast, split between a walled medieval old town, all honey-coloured stone and Gothic churches, and the modern resort strip along Playa de Alcúdia, a long stretch of fine sand backed by hotels and promenade bars. It's family-package territory more than nightlife territory: shallow, calm water, bike paths, and easy trips to the Alcúdia and Albufera wetlands for birdwatching.

The Roman ruins at Pollentia and the Saturday market in the old town give it more history than most Mallorcan resorts bother with. Be honest: the beachfront itself is fairly generic Balearic resort architecture, and in August it's packed with sunbeds and set-menu restaurants rather than anything distinctive. Stay in the old town if you want charm and real streets to walk after dinner; stay on the beach strip if you're here for the sand and don't mind the crowds.
