Hotels in Burgos

Burgos is a Castilian city built on stone and pride, best known for its Gothic cathedral, one of the finest in Spain and a UNESCO World Heritage Site that took over three centuries to complete. It was El Cid's home base, and the city still trades heavily on that medieval identity, with an old quarter of arcaded squares and cured-meat bars serving morcilla de Burgos alongside the local cheese. The Camino de Santiago passes straight through, bringing a steady flow of pilgrims and walkers rather than beach-holiday tourists.

Be honest: outside the cathedral and the compact historic centre, Burgos is a workaday regional capital with cold winters and limited nightlife, and it's more a stop than a destination for most travellers. Stay near the cathedral and Plaza Mayor, since everything worth seeing is within easy walking distance and the old town is far more atmospheric after dark than the newer districts across the river.
