Hotels in Gandía

Gandia is really two towns wearing one name: the old inland city, once seat of the Borja (Borgia) dukes and still holding a ducal palace worth a look, and Gandia Playa, the beach extension three kilometres away where almost all visitors actually stay. The sand is wide, flat and genuinely good — a big draw for Spanish and Valencian families rather than international package tourists, which keeps prices reasonable and the vibe unpretentious.

Be honest: the inland city itself has little to detain you for more than an afternoon, and outside July and August the beachfront can feel half-shuttered and sleepy. It's well served by train from Valencia, making it an easy day trip or a low-key base rather than a destination with much nightlife or culture beyond its beach. Stay in Gandia Playa, right on the seafront, since that's where the beach, restaurants and promenade life actually happen.
