Hotels in Kanda

Kanda is a small industrial town on the Suo-nada coast of Fukuoka Prefecture, just south of Kitakyushu. It is defined less by sightseeing than by work: Nissan's large Kyushu car plant dominates the local economy, and the port and factory traffic shape the townscape. Most visitors arrive because of business at the plant, or because Kitakyushu Airport sits on its artificial island just offshore, which makes Kanda one of the most convenient places to sleep before an early flight.

There is little here to fill a holiday. The streets are quiet, evenings are low-key, and the attractions and nightlife of Kitakyushu and Kokura are a train ride away rather than on your doorstep. That said, the coastal setting is pleasant, and prices and crowds are gentler than in the big city. With only a handful of hotels, choice is limited, so book ahead when the plant or airport is busy. Stay near the JR Nippo Line stations for easy rail links north to Kokura and quick access to the airport.
