Hotels in Mijas

Mijas is really two places: Mijas Pueblo, the whitewashed hilltop village with donkey-taxis and postcard views over the coast, and Mijas Costa, the sprawl of urbanisations, golf courses and beach clubs down by the sea. Most visitors picture the former, all narrow lanes and souvenir shops, but most actually stay in the latter, since that's where the resorts, restaurants and sand are. Be honest: the pueblo is pretty but touristy and easily "done" in an afternoon, while the coastal strip can feel like an extension of Fuengirola with less identity of its own.

Golf is the area's real strength, with a dense cluster of courses inland. We only list five hotels here, so options are limited rather than exhaustive. It's close enough to Málaga-Costa del Sol Airport for an easy transfer without being right under a flight path. Stay in Mijas Costa near the beach if you want sea and restaurants; base yourself in Mijas Pueblo only if you want village atmosphere over convenience.
