Hotels in Oleiros

Oleiros is less a town than a spread of affluent residential parishes curling around the eastern shore of the bay from A Coruña, the kind of place Coruñeses move to for a garden and a sea view. Its real draw is the coastline: Santa Cristina is a long, sheltered urban beach facing the city, Bastiagueiro and Mera are more open to the Atlantic and popular with surfers, and the little Castillo de Santa Cruz sits on its own islet just offshore.

Expect good Galician seafood in unpretentious local spots rather than a showpiece dining scene. Be honest: Oleiros has no proper historic centre, it sprawls across several villages, it is largely car-dependent, and the Galician weather can turn grey and wet even in summer. The upside is that A Coruña's old town and the Roman-era Tower of Hercules are a short drive away. Stay around Santa Cristina or Perillo for beach access and the quickest link into A Coruña.
