Hotels in Park City

Park City is a nineteenth-century silver-mining town that reinvented itself as one of America's premier ski destinations, with Park City Mountain, one of the largest ski areas in the country, on its doorstep and the more polished, skiers-only Deer Valley next door. It hosted events during the 2002 Winter Olympics, and the Utah Olympic Park still trains athletes and lets visitors try bobsled rides. For decades it has also been known as the long-time home of the Sundance Film Festival, which floods the town with industry crowds each January.

The historic Main Street, lined with restored mining-era buildings, galleries, bars and restaurants, gives it more character than most purpose-built resorts. Be honest: this is an expensive place, peak-season crowds and traffic can be heavy, and the altitude catches out some visitors on day one. Summer brings quieter, cheaper mountain biking and hiking. It sits under an hour from Salt Lake City's airport. Stay on or near Historic Main Street for walkable dining and nightlife plus easy free-bus and lift access, or at Canyons Village if ski-in convenience matters most.
