Hotels in Playa de Palma

Playa de Palma is Mallorca's biggest mass-tourism beach strip, running through S'Arenal along miles of sand, and its Ballermann stretch is literally German slang for a Mallorca party beach. That reputation is the honest starting point: this has long been the island's booze-and-balconies quarter.

But the change is real too: since 2026 Palma has pushed a plan of thirty-odd measures targeting ageing hotels, illegal lets and party boats, with an award-winning architecture masterplan to regenerate the strip, all a work in progress rather than a finished transformation. Stay in the quieter Las Maravillas pocket, steps from the sand but set back from the nightlife, or on the beachfront itself if you want the strip on your doorstep.
