Sanxenxo is Galicia's main summer beach resort, a small town that swells far beyond its roughly 17,000 residents once Spanish holidaymakers arrive in July and August for the Rias Baixas coastline. It's known for calm, sheltered beaches like Silgar and Baltar, a lively marina and seafood scene built on the local Albariño wine trade, and a genuinely mild microclimate by Atlantic-Spain standards.

Be honest: outside peak season it's noticeably quiet, with much of the restaurant and nightlife energy switching off, and the town itself has little historic architecture to justify a long stopover on its own merits. It works best as a straightforward seaside base rather than a cultural destination, and it gets crowded and pricier in August, when Spanish domestic tourism peaks hard. Stay close to Silgar beach and the marina, since everything worth doing — the promenade, seafood restaurants, boat trips — is walkable from that stretch.
