Hotels in Tunari

Tunari is not a destination in its own right but a commune in Ilfov County, pressed against Bucharest's northern edge, where village Romania has been overtaken by suburban growth: new housing developments, gated compounds and roadside commerce spreading out of the capital. Its real selling point is location. Bucharest Henri Coandă International Airport (OTP), the country's main gateway, is a short drive away, and the smaller Băneasa airport (BBU) is close too, which makes Tunari practical for early flights, late arrivals or a cheaper, quieter base than central Bucharest.

Be honest: there is little to see or do here, the town has no real historic centre to speak of, and rapid development has left it feeling more like a commuter belt than a place with its own character. For sightseeing, restaurants or nightlife you will be heading into Bucharest, so factor in traffic, which on the northern approach roads can be heavy at rush hour. Stay as close as possible to the main roads toward the airport and the city so you can reach a terminal or central Bucharest without fighting local back streets.
