Hotels in Voluntari

Voluntari is less a destination than Bucharest's fast-growing northeastern edge: a town in Ilfov County that has turned from a farming village into one of Romania's wealthiest suburbs over the past few decades. Much of that money flows through Pipera, the corporate district straddling the city line, where glass office parks, international schools and gated villa compounds sit beside rows of flamboyant, turreted mansions that have become a local signature. Its local football club, FC Voluntari, has put the name on the national map.

Be honest: there is little here to see, the development has been patchy and car-dependent, and rush-hour traffic on the Pipera roads into Bucharest is notoriously bad. What Voluntari does offer is convenience, with Băneasa airport close by, Henri Coandă International a short drive north, and central Bucharest within reach when the roads cooperate. Stay near Pipera if you're here for business, since it puts you closest to the office parks and the quickest routes to both airports.
