Hotels in Tay Ho, Hanoi

Tay Ho — the West Lake neighbourhood — is where Hanoi's expat community and wealthier locals actually live, a world away from the Old Quarter's sensory overload. Broad roads, lakeside restaurants, craft beer bars, yoga studios, excellent brunch cafés and a pace that allows actual conversation. The pagodas on the lake's promontory (Tran Quoc is extraordinary, particularly at dusk) are a short walk. Further from the tourist circuit but an Uber ride from it. For longer stays, digital workers or travellers who want to experience daily Vietnamese city life at a comfortable pitch — without the constant negotiation the Old Quarter requires — Tay Ho is where Hanoi quietly and pleasantly happens.
