Hotels in Bui Vien, Ho Chi Minh City
Bui Vien is HCMC's backpacker street in District 1 — one long pedestrianised strip of open-front bars, beer towers and street food that runs until 3am seven nights a week. It is loud, unpolished and genuinely fun if you arrive knowing what it is. The rest of District 1 — the Reunification Palace, Ben Thanh Market, proper restaurants — is a 10-minute walk. For first-time visitors on a budget who want a social base with fellow travellers and the city's energy on the doorstep without the need for planning, Bui Vien is straightforward and effective. Earplugs are not optional; the best bun bo Hue in the city is on the next street over.
