The world's biggest food fight: at noon on the last Wednesday of August, Buñol's town centre disappears under a hundred tonnes of over-ripe tomatoes for exactly one hour. Twenty thousand tickets, no more — since 2013 entry is capped and ticketed, so book the wristband before the room. Buñol itself is tiny; most fighters stay in Valencia, forty minutes away by train, and ride out in old clothes they're prepared to bury. Goggles are not a joke suggestion.
