About Seattle Seahawks

Seattle joined the NFL as an expansion franchise in 1976, the name chosen by fan vote for a Pacific Northwest seabird. The Seahawks won their first Super Bowl after the 2013 season behind the 'Legion of Boom' secondary, one of the most punishing defenses of its era, and added a second by defeating New England in Super Bowl LX in February 2026.

Seattle's home crowd, nicknamed the '12s,' has twice set official world records for stadium crowd noise and is credited with forcing opposing offenses into costly false-start penalties on the road. Lumen Field's design, with a partial roof that traps and amplifies sound, was built deliberately to reinforce that home-field advantage on the city's waterfront.

  • The 12s set a 136.6 dB Guinness record on September 15, 2013, then broke it at 137.6 dB that December.
  • Their roar once registered as a real, magnitude 1-2 seismic event on regional monitors.

About Lumen Field

Home to the Seattle Seahawks, Lumen Field is a covered open-air stadium in the SoDo district south of downtown Seattle, famous for its deafening crowd noise. The surrounding neighbourhood is gritty and industrial, with Pioneer Square's galleries and bars a short walk north. The Stadium District Link Light Rail station sits right beside the gates.

Staying downtown or around Capitol Hill keeps Seattle's waterfront, restaurants and nightlife close, with a quick, direct light rail ride out to the game.
