Terrible and will not consider the property again.
Pros: We travel to Malta often for business and also sometimes for a holiday or combination of. After staying at a variety of hotels in the past, and knowing that Barcelo was newly built, and situated in Sliema with a stunning view of Valletta, we decided to give it a chance. The view as the only thing that was great. Cons: When arriving, there was a fowl smell of mold and of sewerage that was lingering throughout the reception area at the lifts and in the corridors. The room was stuffy when we entered, and only after frustrating figuring out the aircon, it became bearable. The one thing we re
A waste of money if you think that this is a 5-star hotel
Pros: The room was correct Cons: First of all, the pool is not part of the hotel, this is rented to another hotel or external company. There are three pools, the main one which the hotel does not have access, you have to pay extra like anybody else. Then there are two more, two more tiny pools. These two pools are packed and dirty all the time. If you try to get an umbrella, good luck! Second, the staff! They are not friendly as a 5-star hotel staff should be. The ferry and the bus were easily accessible in a 5-minute walk, as well as a shopping center, and a few good restaurants on the promenade (Hammett's is highly recommended). Friendliness of the staff. Coffee in the room, fresh water. Room air conditioning. Cons: The external pool does not belong to the hotel, it belongs to a Lido - with loud and bass-heavy rhythms all day long - not music in the traditional sense, but only unnecessary sound for the self-presentation of the so-called DJ. The staff there i
Functional hotel with excellent views. Good pool club if you are not a hotel guest
Pros: The views of the city of Valletta are exceptional. The reception staff is very friendly, attentive, and diligent in attending to any request. Cons: Hotel Fortina renovated by the Barceló chain. It is a functional hotel with small rooms and poor maintenance service. The Lido (outdoor pool) is a shared pool club by the sea with exceptional views but with snobbish staff (I don't like to be forgiven for using the pool as a hotel guest, nor do I have to beg to be allowed to use the catering services at very high prices compared to the average in Malta). The average guest's expectations of the
