Best Western Red Lion Hotel

Pros: Nice hotel near central Cons: There were no major issues during my stay. A few small improvements could make the experience even better, but overall, it was a pleasant stay.

Pros: The staff was friendly and my room was lovely and clean Cons: No assistance with my case upstairs when I was leaving but a lovely lady helped me when I arrived

Despite shortcomings the accommodation suited my needs.

Pros: Location was excellent. Breakfast was acceptable. Room had dated furniture but was spacious and comfortable overlooking central courtyard. Loved the cat Leona. Cons: Bare minimum of tea and milk left each day, a bit mean. On day 3 my towels were replaced despite me putting them on the heated towel rail, totally unnecessary and my bed was left unmade. Strange. Can dining room staff be instructed on the difference between dinner knives and forks and dessert knives and forks? Trying to eat a full English breakfast with a small knife and fork is hard work. Lack of attention to detail

Pros: The hotel staff were lovely & the main area downstairs was tidy & clean. Cons: The bathroom in the room was not up to standard. The grouting from the tiled floor was missing or loose & there was chunks of it on the floor. If you stepped on it with bare foot it was very painful. The toilet was dirty when entering & i had to clean it. The carpet in the main room was dirty & it hadn't been hoovered particularly well. The kettle did not switch off when boiling & i struggled to put it under the bathroom tap to fill it in the first place.
