Hotels in Angamali

Angamāli is a busy commercial town in Kerala's Ernakulam district, and for most visitors its main appeal is that it sits right beside Cochin International Airport, one of India's busiest southern gateways and the world's first fully solar-powered airport. The town is a long-established Syrian Christian centre, anchored by the historic St. George's Basilica, and Malayalam-film fans may know it from the gritty 2017 hit Angamaly Diaries, which made the town's pork dishes and toddy-shop culture briefly famous.

It also works as a practical base for Kalady, the birthplace of Adi Shankaracharya, and for day trips toward the Athirappilly waterfalls. This is not a sightseeing destination in its own right. The national highway running through town brings heavy traffic and noise, and there is little in the way of beaches, backwaters or colonial charm, all of which lie closer to Kochi itself. Stay near the highway between the town centre and the airport if you have an early flight or a late arrival, since that is where Angamāli's convenience is greatest.
