Broto is the main gateway to the Ordesa y Monte Perdido National Park, one of the Pyrenees' great canyons and a magnet for hikers heading up to the Cola de Caballo waterfall or the high circuits around Monte Perdido. The village itself is small and stone-built, arranged around a central square, with a pace that shuts down early outside the summer and shoulder-season walking crowds.

Be honest: this isn't a destination in itself so much as a well-placed base — come for the mountains, not the town, and expect limited nightlife or dining variety once the day-trippers clear out. Stay as close to the park entrance road as you can manage, so you're first into Ordesa before the car park fills and the trails crowd up.
