Hotels in Dello

Dello is a small farming comune in the Bassa Bresciana, the flat, intensively cultivated plain south of Brescia in Lombardy, home to a little over three thousand people spread between the main village and a few outlying hamlets. This is working Po Valley countryside: maize and dairy fields, irrigation channels, brick farmsteads and the occasional parish church tower breaking an otherwise level horizon. Be honest: there is little here to fill a holiday itinerary, and with only a handful of places to sleep it functions as a quiet, practical base rather than a destination.

What it does offer is calm, easier parking and a reasonable drive to Brescia's Roman and Lombard monuments, the wine estates of Franciacorta, Cremona's violin-making heritage and, with a bit more time behind the wheel, the southern shores of Lake Garda. A car is close to essential, since public transport across the plain is thin. Stay as near as possible to the main village center, where the few shops and cafés are, and use it as a jumping-off point for day trips rather than expecting evening life on the doorstep.
