Doonbeg is a tiny village on County Clare's Atlantic coast — a pub-and-a-shop crossroads by a ruined castle tower, with the vast sands of Doughmore Bay behind the dunes.

Those dunes hold Trump International Golf Links, the Greg Norman-designed course whose lodge dominates local accommodation, and which hosts the Amgen Irish Open in 2026 — an event far bigger than the village, so be realistic: rooms at the resort and the handful of local B&Bs will go first, and most visitors will base themselves in Kilkee, Kilrush, Lahinch or Ennis and drive in. The consolation is the setting, with the Cliffs of Moher and the Loop Head peninsula both on the same stretch of the Clare coast.
