Hotels in Elūr

Elūr, usually written Eloor, is an industrial island town in the Periyar river just north of Kochi, and it is a working place rather than a destination. It grew up around the Udyogamandal industrial belt, anchored by the state-run Fertilisers and Chemicals Travancore (FACT) plant, and most visitors come for business with the factories or because it is a cheaper base on the edge of greater Kochi.

Eloor is better known for decades of complaints about chemical pollution in the Periyar than for anything scenic, and there are no sights to speak of beyond glimpses of river and backwater greenery between the plants. What it does offer is position. Aluva, Kalamassery and central Kochi are within easy reach by road, and Cochin International Airport is a short drive north, which suits early flights or overnight stopovers.
