Hotels in Goch

Goch is a small, low-key market town on the Lower Rhine, a few kilometres from the Dutch border, with the River Niers running through its centre and the Reichswald forest to the north. Its most recognisable landmark is the medieval Steintor gate, and the Gothic church of St. Maria Magdalena anchors the old town, but be honest: heavy fighting in early 1945 destroyed much of Goch, so the centre is more postwar practical than picturesque. Most visitors aren't here for Goch itself.

Weeze (Niederrhein) Airport sits just to the south, making the town a handy overnight base for early budget flights. It also works as a quiet hub for the surrounding area: the pilgrimage town of Kevelaer and its Marienbasilika are a short drive away, and Moyland Castle, with its major Joseph Beuys collection, is an easy trip north toward Kleve. Flat, well-signed cycle routes connect it all. Stay in the town centre near the Steintor for walkable restaurants and shops, or toward the southern edge if a fast airport run matters most.
