Hotels in Herdecke

Herdecke is a small town on the Ruhr river in North Rhine-Westphalia, best known locally for the Hengsteysee and Harkortsee reservoirs that draw sailors, rowers and lakeside walkers from across the Ruhr area on weekends. It's more a day-trip and residential spot than a tourist destination in its own right, with a compact old town and none of the big-city draws of nearby Dortmund.

Be honest: there isn't much nightlife or sightseeing here to fill more than a day, and the hotel selection is small, with just five properties listed. That makes it a sensible base mainly for people with business or family ties in the area, or those wanting quieter, cheaper lodging outside Dortmund while still being close to Dortmund Airport (DTM) for onward travel. Given the limited choice, stay close to the lakes if you want any sense of what Herdecke is actually for, rather than in the town centre.
