Hotels in Hohentauern

Hohentauern is a tiny alpine village in Styria, sitting at a high pass between the Rottenmann and Seckau Tauern ranges, and it exists almost entirely for winter sport: a modest, family-oriented ski area with reliable snow for its altitude, plus summer hiking and mountain-biking once the lifts switch trades. With a population barely above 300, there is no real town to speak of, nightlife is minimal, and anyone wanting restaurants, shops or après-ski buzz beyond a couple of local gasthofs will be disappointed.

What you get instead is quiet, ski-in convenience and proper mountain scenery without the crowds or prices of bigger Austrian resorts. Our catalog runs to 14 hotels here, which is a lot of choice for a village this size, mostly guesthouses and smaller ski hotels rather than large chains. Stay as close to the lift base as possible, since Hohentauern's whole appeal is minimal transfer time between bed and slope, not village life.
