Hotels in Kilrush

Kilrush is a small market town on the Shannon Estuary in County Clare, built around a Georgian square and marina rather than any single headline attraction. It's the practical base for dolphin-watching boat trips out to the estuary's resident bottlenose population, and for reaching Scattery Island, the ruined monastic site just offshore.

The town itself is modest — a few streets of shopfronts and pubs, pleasant for an afternoon but not somewhere to plan multiple days around unless you're using it as a springboard. It also works as a jumping-off point for the Loop Head peninsula's cliffs and lighthouse, which are more dramatic than anything in the town itself. With a population under 3,000, the choice of accommodation is limited and skews toward guesthouses and small hotels rather than big chains.
