Hotels in Moshi

Moshi sits at the foot of Kilimanjaro and exists almost entirely because of it: this is the staging town where climbers assemble, gear checks happen, and guides and porters are hired before the trek up Africa's highest peak. The town itself is compact and workaday, with a lively central market, Chagga farming villages in the surrounding foothills, and coffee estates you can visit if you want a day that isn't spent walking uphill.

Moshi has little in the way of standout sights beyond the mountain, and the appeal is logistical rather than scenic — good transport links, tour operators, and a base for acclimatising before or after the climb. On clear mornings the summit itself is the main event, looming over town when the cloud cover lifts. Stay near the town centre if you want easy access to tour offices and transport for your Kilimanjaro trek.
