Hotels in Nashik

Nashik is a city with two identities: one of Hinduism's holiest pilgrimage centres and India's self-styled wine capital. On the banks of the Godavari, the Panchavati area is tied to the Ramayana, with the bathing ghats of Ramkund and the black-stone Kalaram temple drawing steady crowds of devotees. Every twelve years the city co-hosts the Kumbh Mela, when millions descend and accommodation becomes scarce. The other Nashik lies on its western fringes, where vineyards such as Sula have turned the surrounding grape country into a weekend escape for Mumbaikars a few hours' drive away.

The Trimbakeshwar Jyotirlinga temple sits in the hills nearby. Be honest: the city itself is a sprawling, traffic-heavy commercial hub with little old-town charm, and Nashik International Airport has limited connections, so most visitors arrive by road or rail. Stay around Gangapur Road or College Road for the best restaurants and easiest access to the wineries, or in Panchavati if the temples are your reason for coming.
