Hotels in Saint-Rémy

Saint-Rémy-de-Provence trades on two things: Van Gogh, who committed himself to the asylum at Saint-Paul-de-Mausole just outside town after cutting off part of his ear, and the Roman ruins of Glanum a short walk further south. The old town itself is a tight knot of plane-tree-shaded squares and boutiques that fills with a genuinely good Wednesday market, drawing day-trippers from Avignon and Arles in numbers the narrow streets weren't built for.

Be honest: in July and August it can feel like a stage set for a certain kind of well-heeled Provençal tourism, with prices to match, and the town itself is small enough to see thoroughly in a day. Only five properties are covered here, so choice is limited rather than exhaustive. Stay in the historic centre if you want to walk to the market and restaurants without a car; outside town nearer Glanum suits those prioritising the ruins and quiet over nightlife, of which there is little anyway.
