Hotels in Tangerang

Tangerang is best known as the address of Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, Jakarta's main hub and one of the busiest in Southeast Asia, which sits inside city limits rather than in the capital itself. Locals call it Kota Seribu Industri, the city of a thousand industries, and factories still hum alongside the call to prayer from mosques like the five-domed Masjid Raya Al-A'zhom, built in 1997 and modelled loosely on the Hagia Sophia.

Newer districts such as BSD City have brought planned malls, offices and gated housing, a modern counterpoint to the older industrial core. Central Jakarta's museums, old town and nightlife are a manageable drive or toll-road ride away, so most visitors treat Tangerang as a base rather than a destination. Be honest: this is a satellite city built around logistics and manufacturing, with little of its own to draw a tourist itinerary. Stay near the airport terminals for the easiest possible connection in or out of Jakarta.
